Victor Wembanyama just set a new record this morning. His 2023-24 Panini Prizm Black parallel one-of-one, graded PSA 10 Gem Mint, sold for $5.11 million in a private deal brokered by Fanatics Collect, making it the most expensive known sale of a non-autographed NBA card and the 11th highest sports card sale of all time according to Card Ladder. The buyer said he believes this is and will remain Wembanyama’s best card, and paid aggressively to secure it before anyone else could. The card was not without controversy. NorCal Sports Cards referenced Kurt’s Card Care, a card cleaning product, shortly after the card received its PSA 10 grade, raising some eyebrows in the hobby. PSA does not grade altered cards, and the original puller of the card stated Kurt’s Card Care had nothing to do with him or the card. The new owner said it would not have affected his decision regardless.
The previous record holder was Wembanyama’s 2023-24 Panini Prizm Nebula Choice one-of-one, graded PSA 9, which sold for $860,100 through Goldin Auctions in February 2025, a sale that came shortly after Wembanyama sustained a blood clot in his right shoulder that cut his second NBA season short.
